Company History
July 8, 1986 – Our story began when Tokyo Direct Import Center was
founded with a simple mission: bringing quality kitchen tools
directly to those who love to cook.
December 1995– We found our home in Tokyo's legendary Kappabashi
Tool Street, joining a community of artisans and culinary
specialists who share our passion.
June 2000 – Kitchen World TDI opened its doors, expanding our
commitment to providing everything the modern kitchen needs.
January 2002 – A milestone year! We launched Knife Shop TDI,
dedicating ourselves to the art of fine cutlery, and evolved into
Tokyo Direct Import Center Inc.
March 2010 – Fuwari was born, adding a new dimension to our family
of stores.
June 2015 – bai-se joined our growing portfolio, bringing even more
options to discerning customers.
July 2019 – We embraced tradition and craftsmanship with KOUJIN
Hamono and established our Sankyo Business Division,
deepening our expertise in Japanese blade-making.
March 2023– Knife Shop KOUJIN became our latest chapter,
continuing our dedication to exceptional knives and the people
who use them.
Today – From a single shop to a family of specialized stores, we
remain committed to connecting passionate cooks with the finest
tools for their craft.
